As you probably know by now, in August Provincetown was named the
most dog-friendly town in America by Dog Fancy Magazine!

The editor of Dog Fancy Magazine, Ernie Slone, will be officially
presenting this award to the Town on Saturday September 25th at
10 am on the steps of Town Hall. It will be a
gala event steeped in Provincetown heritage as the Town
Crier opens the ceremony and, in tradition of a bygone
era, announces the news to the community.
Please plan to attend and, of course, bring your dog--surely,
this will be a great photo opportunity to showcase just how dog
friendly Provincetown is!
To add to the excitement this award
ceremony happens to coincide with Pet Appreciation Weekend, an
annual tribute to our canine and feline friends hosted by CASAS.

PET-FRIENDLY ANIMAL
SHELTER
Animal welfare in
Provincetown continues to make significant gains!
A
pet-friendly emergency shelter at the Veterans Memorial Elementary
School has received the unanimous support of the Board of
Selectmen, The Board of Health, The Chief of Police (emergency
manager), The Animal Control Officer, The Council on Aging, The
Disabilities Commission, The Chamber of Commerce, and The Visitor's
Service Board.
**Attention
Provincetown Voters**
Please
attend this fall's Town Meeting as three important articles have
been placed on the Town warrant to promote both animal welfare and
responsible pet ownership.
The Town of Provincetown Pet Emergency Shelter Gift Fund has been
established to fund the necessary supplies for the shelter.

Pilgrim
Bark Park's first float in Provincetown's annual
Carnival Parade whose theme was 'Jungle Fantasy ' this year.
An estimated crowd of 75,000 -- the largest ever--according to
our Chief of Police, jammed the Town's main street to watch the
festivities and vie for the colored beads being thrown into the
crowd from the floats.
